The Socio-Economic Impact of Religious Philanthropy on Development in the State of Karnataka

Dr. Kothai’s study on Religious Philanthropy is one of the pioneering studies in this field in India .  The study traces the traditional philanthropic practices of many religious institutions in India .  The case examples are mostly drawn from the Southern states of India .  On the one hand this study documents the distinct philanthropic activities of different religious institutions, while on the other there is an attempt to examine the impact of such activities on the overall development of the community and of the region.  The report can be easily taken as a compendium of philanthropic practices of religious institutions in India .
